It was an amazing tour to Sajek Valley with my departmental friends. The immaculate beauty and eternal serenity prevailing there still haunts me all the time.
We were eighteen of our department. We started our tour on the 24th ultimo.
We went there by bus. After getting on the bus, we shouted aloud with the pleasure that we had finally started our journey towards our much-desired spot of natural beauty.
Waking up from sleep at dawn, I saw our bus was passing through the zigzag meandering roads having hills in both sides. This gave me immense pleasure because that was first time I had such a tour to the very place.
We had to take a pause in Khakrachori Town to have breakfast and change our vehicle.
After getting down from bus, we had to take Chander Gari to have another charming four to five hours zigzag journey to reach Sajek.
It is pleasure to share that many say that journey on Chander Gari is just amazing. So that was my turn to experience it.
As soon as we had finished breakfast and sipping on tea, we set out for Sajek.
During the journey from Khakrachhori to Sajek, many of us sat on the roof of Chander Gari so that it became easier to see the beauty of the adjacent areas and experience it.
When the Gari was heeding towards uphill road from downhill, we used to chear, shout, roar at the top of our voice that was too vociferous.
On the way to Sajek from Khakrachhori, we took a pause to see the Hajhong water fountain I had never been there.
Walking for few minutes through the uneven hilly ways, we reached to the Hajhong. I saw water was coming down from the bluff uphill to the downhill. It was wonderful to see. After spending few minutes, we had again got on the Chander Gari.
At around 12pm, we reached Sajek that we yearned for long time.
The views and sceneries seen from Sajek Valley are captivating. The landscapes of hills gave alluring feelings of eternity.
We had our lunch there at the Kashbone restaurant with the traditional items. Then we had some rest at our cottage-Mechmachang -name of another beauty and eagerly waiting to see the sunset from nearby upland "Helipad".
Before sunset, we in groups rushed to Helipad to see the sunset. A clearer sunset is seen from there. It was really awesome to see sunset in your own eyes. You cannot believe in yourself. It seemed that the sun was hiding itself into the cover of distant hills. Thereafter, a dense cover of darkness darkened the place rapidly.
We spent some more moments there gossipping one another. We suddenly discovered that a glorious Moon was gradually rising in the east. I could not describe it in words how overwhelming it was to see. One must be overwhelmed after seeing the Moonrise. Later we together had set to fly some Fanus from there in Helipad.
Another memorable memory was going to be stored. That was to see Sunrise from Konglak Pahar. We were awaiting for the ensuing dawn. Before dawn we got up and started going to the acme of Konlak Pahar to witness the moment of Sunrise.
We had to climb up the steep hill to reach the pinnacle of Konglak Pahar. It took few minutes.
No sooner had we reached the pinnacle than the Sun began coming out of the big distant mountain with the auroral glow of brilliance that disappeared the darkness immediately. We were blessed to have enjoyed the Sun-rising moments. A lot of pictures were captured in different poses to register our memory forever.
On that day, at around 11am, I along with few friends ventured to go on trekking the downhill forest. We became able to enter into the deep forest that we cherished. Through the narrow-snaky-hilly ways, we went down to the bottom of hill and drank falls water. What a interesting moment it was!
At night, we arranged a barbecue party. There, I met a-10-year-old boy whose name was Nikesh, a local Tripura boy. He was outstanding indeed. Gossipping with him made me surprised how a boy at the age could speak in such witty way! He outwitted us by his humor.
I was startled at his behaviour. But his song appeased us all.
During our return next morning, we paid a visit to Alutila Cave, eco-park and another falls.
We returned to Dhaka at night. Though our tour has ended, I still visualise the pictures of natural beauty and relive on those pictures. (Kirtton Chandro Das, a freelancer contributor, is currently studying at University of Dhaka)
