Is rape a Social Contagion?

Recent incidents of rape have surprised the whole nation. The incidents have revealed the brutality and infernality of perverted were-wolfs who have not spared even a child to make prey of them.
Ferocity of these hated individuals have exceeded our consciousness of animality. How has a 2 year-old girl-child been raped by an older beast? Answer to this question is entangled with morality level of inhumanness of those involved in rape.
The ongoing month has already witnessed four to six rape incidents occurred in different part of the country. Earlier of this month a 15-year-old girl became the victim of rape inside the goods-laden truck in Narayanganj.  In another incident, 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Parbatipur upazila of Dinajpur.
Furthermore, confession of a man was to have raped a college girl locking for seven month in Tangail. How atrocious a man can be! A school girl was allegedly raped in Mirpur of Dhaka and so on.
Innumerable incidents are happening in recent years. According to “Ain o Salish Kendra”, 319 incidents of rape took place between January and June collected from media report, which is a horrible figure to be worried about.
These acts of rape in our country have surpassed the medieval form bestiality. The carnal desire of those individuals is insatiate and unfulfilled. Their belief lies in fetishism.
Moral degradation of these sensual-psycho-pathetic individuals in our society is linked to the infection of this malady. When one has perpetrated and got spared through the shelter of different quarters associated to power and authority, then the resultant inspires other individuals for further perpetration. The perpetrators can easily exculpated through the culture of impunity.
The incident of rape in our country have now created a threatening situation for the security of women and girls as well as their education and freedom. Will any guardian be willing to send their female members outside without reason?
In addition to adult women raped, college and school-going girls are becoming the prey to the heinous act of rape
Rape is considered to be one of the most heinous felonies. So the perpetrators must be handed down exemplary punishment, which should be tantamount to capital punishment or lifelong imprisonment.
The government and law enforcers have significant role to play in reducing the number of rape occurring in different places across the country. Moves to rein the contagion of rape through the enforcement of stringent laws regardless of political power are effective ways of protecting women and girls from rape.
Moral education has also become a needful and essential part that need to be cultivated among generations. Family should take responsibility to teach their children of morals with a view to creating mutual understanding and fellow-feelings between female and male so that the word rape can be erased from the dictionary of our society.
