English language as an instrument to modern Neo-imperialism

English language is used to be an instrument in the modern  age to grab the world in a tactics that will earn control of everything easily. English is spoken mostly all over the world. In this sense, English has become an International language. There are different types of elements of cultural penetration into a nation. Language is one of the strongest elements of  those, which can change the cultural beliefs, norms and habits of that language. English language has become like this. In Bangladesh, English language is generally taught as a second language but in some institutions as a first language. Question is why we will learn English as language or what is the significance of it in our life? Language is a means of communication. We can establish our relation with the foreign countries through this language in terms of trade, commerce and exchange of agreement. But in Bangladesh it has become a trend that English is the only language which must be learned. Without English, you are unable to use facebook, whatsapp, google or any other social media. Over emphasis on this language has returned negative repercussion in the field of culture, history and heritage. A TV reporter, on the previous 21st February, asked a young visitor,  "why  have you come here in the Shaheed Minar". The visitor replied , "today is our Independence Day". I was fully shocked hearing the reply. The visitor maybe was studying in Undergraduate level. How did the visitor reply like this? How  do the people forget the sacrifice of the martyrs who shed their blood and was indomitable to the power in terms of Mother tongue. This is sheer the degradation of young generation unable to realise the significance of mother language. Once We realised the Bangla language from the claws of West Pakistan. Pakistan wanted to make Urdu as our Mother Tongue but didn't let it go. If the Pakistan became successful in establish Urdu as our State Language, our own culture, heritage and customs would wash away because of the influence. We resisted that imposition on us. But we are eagerly accepting english as our Mother tongue. We let English Medium Schools establish in our country, which does not include our history section needed to motivate our young generation to history. Through these activities English language has taken a big stance in our culture. Dresses of western are being taken as the model. So to save the Bangla Language from degradation, young generation must be awakened through dissipating  knowledge of history.
